

She was born October 10, 1964, in Iowa City, Iowa, to Allan and Wetherill Winder. She attended Scattergood School in West Branch, Iowa, graduating from CEC Alternative School in Iowa City. Moving to Boulder, Colorado, she later graduated from University of Colorado with a degree in geography. She married Gilles Palmarini, and they had one daughter, Claire Tanager (née Palmarini). They divorced, and she later married Malcolm Oliver III, and they had two sons, Malcolm Oliver IV and Ethan Oliver. They later divorced, after which she forged a loving partnership with Joe Jacobs. Her life was enriched by motherhood, teaching, cooking, international travel, and, of course, The Grateful Dead.
She is survived by her partner and caregiver Joe Jacobs of Boulder; her father and his wife Teresa Winder, of Coralville, Iowa; her mother and her partner John Bovey, of Iowa City; her children, and Claire’s husband Kevin Schmidt Tanager, of Chicago, Illinois; her brother Gordon (Denise) Winder of Madison, Wisconsin, and their children Sydney and Nicholas; her brother Owen (Jenni) Winder of Chicago; her sister Lezli Whitehouse and her partner Lisa Poore of Boston, Massachusetts; her brother Blake Winder and his partner Brianna Link of Coralville; multiple aunts and uncles on the Winder side, as well as her special uncle Os Cresson, of Iowa City.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Unitarian Church in Boulder, CO (5001 Pennsylvania Ave) on Saturday, September 29th, 2018 at 4:00 pm. An informal gathering will follow at the Wesley Center in Boulder, CO (1290 Folsom Street).
