Richard "Dick" James Easter

Richard (Dick) Easter passed away on February 6th, 2025, at the age of 86. A Colorado native, Dick spent his childhood living in mountain communities before his parents settled in Minturn, Colorado, where they owned and operated the dry cleaners. Some of Dick’s favorite stories to tell were of his adventures as a young person skiing with friends or soldiers from the 10th Mountain Division at Cooper Hill.

He attended Gypsum High School and later graduated from Colorado State College (now the University of Northern Colorado) with a teaching degree. Soon after graduation, he met Sandra, and they were married for 51 years until Sandra’s passing in 2016. Dick and Sandra moved around Colorado for the first years of their marriage for Dick’s teaching positions and, during that time, became proud parents of their children, Kristina and Kris. They then settled in Boulder, where Dick worked at RTD as a bus driver until his retirement.

Dick enjoyed family camping trips, working with the Boy Scouts, and time spent with friends running road races, taking long walks, or meeting for breakfast. After being persuaded by his good friend Jerry Beaber to vote for the sales tax increase to fund Coors Field, he became a die-hard Rockies fan. An avid reader, Dick recorded every book he read since the late 1970’s. He always had a story, joke, and smile to share.

Skiing brought Dick joy throughout his life. He especially enjoyed sharing his love of skiing with his grandchildren and was proud to ski with each of them before he stopped skiing at the age of 81.

He will be remembered as a generous and thoughtful Dad, Papa, and friend, and he will be dearly missed.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Sandra, and daughter, Kristina. He is survived by his son, Kris; his daughter-in-law, Melinda; his grandchildren, Cormac, Connor, and Emelia; and his in-laws, Walt and Sheryl Borra.

A funeral and burial will be held on February 19th at Crist Mortuary in Boulder. Instead of flowers, donations can be made to Toys for Tots.
