Robert George Kruse, 84, went home to be with the Lord on December 1, 2014, in Boulder Colorado. Robert was born on November 1, 1930, in Little Rock, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin J. Kruse and Mabel A. Aggen. He is survived by his wife Lonnie and daughter Rhonda of Boulder, Colorado; his son Curtis of Hot Springs, Montana; his brother Monte and wife, Marj, of Horseshoe Bay, Texas; his niece Kathy of Texas; his nephew Kenneth of California; and brother-in law Roger of Montana.
Robert graduated from Iowa State University with a degree in Architectural Engineering. After serving in the Army during the Korean War, he went on to become a commercial, industrial Architect working on everything from high rise buildings to dams and power plants.
Robert also enjoyed swimming and was an accomplished diver. During his second year in the military, he caught the attention of a lifeguard who was an Olympic Diver. Since the Olympics were that year and tryouts the following month, he asked Robert to try out. Robert had the honor of trying out for the US Army, Olympic Diving Team.
In 1958 Robert met Lonnie Larue Wicke in Omaha, Nebraska where he was working and she was attending school. A year later they were married in her hometown of Ludell, Kansas. Robert loved to dance, create his own cards and wrote Iambic-Pentameter style love poetry. He also enjoyed entertaining his family and friends with an occasional magic show. He was also involved in Toastmasters--keeping us amused with his off-beat sense of humor.
There was a private family service at Mountain View Memorial Park in Boulder, Colorado with Military Honors on Thursday, December 4th, 2014.
