Samira Mansour Serougi
April 3, 1947 – February 13, 2022
Samira Mansour Serougi was born April 3, 1947 to Mansour and Ilyanour Ghazzawi in Jaffa, Palestine. Born the eighth of nine children, Samira cherished the blessings of a large family. Her brothers and sisters adored her strong-will, perseverance, and zest for life.
Samira moved to Kuwait with her family in 1962 where she finished her high school education. On May 7, 1971, Samira married the love of her life, Eissa Soheil Serougi. Samira and Eissa were pioneers in search of a better life for themselves and their first-born daughter. In 1974, the three set off for a new adventure and immigrated to the United States where they settled in Broomfield, Colorado.
Samira was not a stranger to hard work and dedication. Samira embarked on making her mark in the workforce and joined Storage Technology Corporation where she worked until she retired after 24 years of service.
Samira was blessed with four daughters: Mary, Susan, Christie, and Jessica. Samira’s passion was the accomplishments of her daughters. She encouraged and supported each of them through their education, careers, and ultimately their own families. Although Samira did not have any boys, she considered her sons-in-law, Kevin, Donald, Emil, and Kyle her own blood and loved them dearly.
Samira’s family was her pride and joy. Samira would never hesitate to share her adoration of her grandchildren, George, Layla, Isabella, Dylan, Nyla, and Luca, with anyone. Samira’s heart was full when she had her entire family together.
Anyone that knows Samira, knows that she is a fantastic cook. Samira had a competitive streak and it especially rang true in the kitchen! Food brings friends and family together, and Samira loved the combination. Whether it was baking fresh pastries for the holidays, making her famous falafel mix for the church festival, or a simple meal for her family, Samira did it best.
Samira took pride in building meaningful and lasting relationships. She was a friend to many and was always the first to assist her family and friends in any way she could. Samira thrived off people and the feeling she got when she knew she had made a difference.
Samira and Eissa’s life together was rich with love and adventure. They celebrated their 50th Golden Wedding Anniversary this past year, surrounded by their children and grandchildren. Shortly thereafter, Samira was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer which took her life on February 13, 2022. Samira is survived by her loving husband, Eissa Soheil Serougi; daughters, Mary Haynes (Donald Haynes), Susan Kurtz (Kevin Kurtz), Christie Anastas (Emil Anastas), Jessica Ross (Kyle Ross), grandchildren, George & Layla Kurtz, Isabella & Dylan Haynes, Nyla & Luca Anastas, and siblings; Munir Ghazzawi, Violet Massoud, and Adma Serougi.
We have lost our beautiful Samira, but heaven has gained an angel like no other. May your memory be eternal sweet Samira. You will forever be in our hearts.
