Shirley was born September 10, 1930 in Mason City Iowa. After an enjoyable childhood she found herself in Minnesota, where she met Joseph Heck, and the two were soon married. They moved to Boulder shortly afterwards.
Shirley was strong, social, and extremely smart. She and Joe were old-school Boulderites, and anyone who knew them would agree that they were one of the classiest and most fun couples you could meet. She enjoyed reading, going out with friends, and shamelessly spoiling her grandchildren. Her love and dedication to her family was unmatched, and up until the last hours of her life, she continued to laugh, joke, and put in her two cents. Her friends and family will miss her as a wonderful ally and a close confidant.
