

Wallace “Wally” Dale Palmer, long-time Boulder County resident, passed away from Covid-19 at the age of 85 on November 12, 2021 in Boulder, Colorado surrounded by his children and loving partner, Linda Whitaker. Wally was born to Kenneth Dale and Eva Alice Palmer on April 7, 1936 and moved to Boulder from his native Kansas when he was 8 years old with his parents and 3 siblings. He graduated from Boulder High School and later graduated from the University of Colorado with a degree in Architecture in 1961. He started his own architecture firm in 1970 and was responsible for some of the most dramatic and imposing buildings in downtown Boulder. He was also the design architect for CU’s Williams Village, Fairview High School, and the Boulder Country Club. Wally loved being from Boulder, Colorado. He ran multiple Bolder Boulder races including the very first one and the last one for him at the age of 80. He was an avid skier and greatly appreciated the Rocky Mountains and all their beauty, spending many summer days camping and fishing with family and friends. Wally was very spiritual and enjoyed singing as a member of many choirs throughout school and his adult life. Wally is already dearly missed by family, friends and those who knew him. Many have commented that Wally was always smiling when they were with him. Wally was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Patrick and sister Annell. Wally is survived by his partner, Linda; brother, William Palmer; son, Jeff Palmer (Deb); daughter, Calla Lovrien (Todd); grandkids, Bailey, Shelbey, Jack, Tyler and Annie; and great grandson, Hayden. A celebration of life will be held at the Chautauqua Community House Grand Assembly on Saturday, Dec. 18, 2021 at 1:30pm.
