

Carolyn was born in Bellevue Ohio where she spent her early years. The family then returned to Logan, Ohio where Carolyn attended school through the 11th grade before graduating from Nelsonville High School in the class of 1962. Carolyn worked in Coumbus for several years at the Ohio State Medical Association before returning to Ohio University where she worked at the Physical Plant as an Administrative Assistant. While working at Ohio University she completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education. She later completed her Master of Arts degree from the University of South Florida.
In 1979 Carolyn along with her mother Marjorie (Dee) Iles moved to Bradenton, Florida where she taught at Oneco and Moody Elementary Schools. She retired from Manatee County Schools in 2000.
Carolyn traveled to England with her dear friend Mimi Embree during the summer months to study at Oxford. She was an astute lifelong learner. Carolyn traveled to Europe and attended the 1964-65 World’s Fair held in New York City.
Carolyn was a long -time member and former president of the Magic of Manatee Sweet Adelines and loved to perform and travel with them to conventions and competitions throughout the United States.
Carolyn is survived by her sister Victoria Creighton of Bradenton, Florida. who served as her caregiver for the past two years. Brothers: Dr. Thomas (Ruth) Iles of Lewisburg, West Virginia, Jerry Iles of Athens, Ohio, Nieces: Mallory Iles (Matt Detch) of Alexandria, Virginia, Lauren (Chris) Rydzik of New Port Richy, Florida, nephews: Trent Iles of Sarasota, Florida, Matthew (Lisa Rhea) Iles of Kingsport, Tennessee, and Alex Creighton of Canton, North Carolina. Great nieces and nephews McKenna Conroy, Ella Conroy, Jake Conroy and Lydia Conroy all of Knoxville Tennessee. Penelope Rydzik and Tucker Rydzik of New Port Richy, Florida. She was preceded in death by her parents Otto and Marjorie Iles, her niece Kimberly (Brian) Conroy and sister-in-law Teresa (Jerry) Iles.
A visitation will be held June 8, 2024 from 1:00-2:00 p.m. followed by a funeral service from 2:00-2:30 at Bradenton Christian Reformed Church, 4208 26th Street West, Bradenton, Florida. Graveside services will be held at Manasota Memorial Park, Bradenton at 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations in honor of Carolyn should be made to Bishop Animal Shelter SPCA, 5718 21st Avenue West, Bradenton, Florida 34209. Arrangements are by Robert Toale and Sons Dignity Memorial Funeral Home, 912 53rd Avenue West, Bradenton Florida 34209.
