With profound sadness yet with the peace that comes from a life well-lived, we announce the passing of Donald Wayne Steele on December 14, 2023, in South Daytona, FL. At 82 years old, Donald's journey was marked by the love of God, devotion to family, and a remarkable skill as a Tool & Die Maker. Born on January 17, 1941, in Bowling Green, KY, to Frank Lotus Steele & Jeanette Morris Steele, Donald's life was a tapestry of dedicated workmanship and heartfelt connections.
In 1962, Donald united in love with Nancy Katherine Steele, forming a partnership that flourished for over 61 years. Their love formed a foundation that strengthened and provided stability to the entire family. His career as a Tool & Die Maker, from which he retired in 2000, was not just a job but a reflection of his passion for precision and excellence. Donald's hands, always ready to create or repair, were a testament to his belief in the dignity of hard work.
Donald's life was not just defined by his work but also by his compassionate spirit. He had a special place in his heart for the needy and an unyielding commitment to his friends and family. His love for travel took him across the country, where he found joy in simple pleasures like a good steak and the beauty of the American landscape.
He leaves behind a legacy of love and strength in his family: his wife, Nancy; son, Donald “Jeffrey” Steele (Peggy), and their children Isabelle, Olivia, and Victoria; grandson Donald “Jason” Steele (Iris) and their children Alexia and Clara; granddaughter Shannon Deanne Bruno; brothers Gary (Patricia) and Roger (Mary); sister Georgia-Gail Guthrie (Jim); sister-in-laws Debbie Steele and Louise Steele; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Donald's life was also touched by loss, including his son Michael “Todd” Steele and brothers Frank Jr. & Thomas.
There will be a celebration of Donald’s life at a graveside service at Sarasota Memorial Park on Thursday, December 21, 2023, at 2 pm for family & friends. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory can be made to the Beville Road Church of Christ in South Daytona, FL, or a charity close to your heart.
Donald’s vibrant spirit, unwavering integrity, and the countless lives he touched will forever resonate in our memories. His story is not just one of a life passed but of a legacy that continues to inspire and guide us.
