Fred D. Lacy, 81 of Bradenton, FL died on Thursday, Jan. 8, 2015, following a long illness. Born in Bakerton, KY, and raised in Clarksville, IN, he enlisted in the United States Air Force in August 1951, was stationed in Germany, and honorably discharged in July 1955. Subsequently he was employed with the Federal Aviation Administration as an Electronics Technician for 34 years followed by 10 years with Ratheon.
He will be remembered by friends and family for his keen intellect and laid-back attitude. He is survived by his wife, Donna Lacy of Bradenton, FL; two daughters, Dianne Lacy of Clarksville, IN and Laura Lacy of Sarasota, FL; two grandchildren, Whitney Shaw and Billy Edelen; and one great-grandchild, Jackson Maldonado, all of Clarksville, IN; a brother, Alfred Lacy of Lewiston, ID; and three sisters: Mittie Taylor of Huntsville, AL; Sandra Meredith of Wilmington, NC; and Mel Dora Sprangue of Melbourne, FL.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Freda Coburn, and two brothers, Bryce Lacy and Harold Lacy.
Internment services will be at Sarasota National Cemetery on Monday, Jan. 26, 2015 at 1PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made to the National Kidney Foundation.
