Our beloved James B. Wischer, Jr (born on April 18, 1966 in Covington, KY) passed in the loving arms of his family and friends on January 1, 2017 at the age of 50. Jim’s last weeks were spent at his home under the loving and supporting care of his wife Olwin Wischer and son Andrew Wischer (14). Also supporting in every way possible was his mother Martha Kincer (Ray) Turner (Ellenton, FL), sister Michelle Turner (Ellenton, FL), and two brothers Joseph (JoJo & Destiny) Wischer (Ellenton, FL) and Count (Brandi) Turner (Daytona Beach, FL) and their close friends from the MCSO and Calvary Chapel Sarasota. He was also survived by his father James B. Wischer Sr, brother Scott (Laurie) Wischer and sister Rene Wischer.
In addition to being a wonderful husband, father and patriarch of his family, Jim is also a published author (The Boy Who Never Cried Wolf), 2013 Bealls Humanitarian of the Year Award Recipient, a gifted speaker, a passionate preacher of the Gospel, and a loving friend to many.
His colleagues at the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office in Bradenton, FL have beautifully expressed their love and respect for Jim’s abilities as a Detective and Sergeant but mostly for his incomparable compassion for those he was sworn to serve and protect.
Jim had a life’s message and would share it to anyone willing to listen. “Life is but a vapor (psst)”. He would hold up a spray bottle (or just motion with his finger) and release a mist into the air. Out of James 4:14, Jim was frequently reminding us that like the mist, life is short.
After his brain tumor operation and for the next 17 months, Jim took great comfort in knowing and was always reminding us that; “He was in the loving hands of his heavenly father”.
Prior to the Celebration of Life Service at 11:00, viewing hours will be between 9:00 and 11:00 on Saturday 7, 2017 at the First Church of the Nazarene located at 1616 59th Street West, Bradenton, FL. Immediately afterwards, a procession will lead to Manasota Park Cemetery at 1221 53rd Ave E, Bradenton for a Honor Guard Ceremonial Service.
Jim and Olwin have been long term supporters of the Florida Sheriff’s Youth Ranches Program. Please send donations to this organization instead on their behalf (Florida Sherriff’s Youth Ranches, Inc. PO Box 2000, Boys Ranch, FL 32064 800-765-3797).
