Grech served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, and was a retired New York City Police Officer. He resided in the Bradenton/Sarasota area for 20 years, and worked at the State Road 70 Wal Mart and the Sarabay Country Club. Survivors include his wife Carmen, stepson Ruben Grech, and grandchildren Kimberly and Jeremy.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, February 15, 2010 at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Catholic Church. Visitation will be Sunday from 2–7 PM at Manasota Memorial Funeral Home. Burial with Military Rites will take place at Sarasota National Cemetery following Mass.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to memorials which have been established at The Alzheimer's Association, 1230 South Tuttle Avenue, Sarasota 34239, and Meals on Wheels Plus of Manatee, 2703 19th Street Court, East, Bradenton 34208.
