John Viher Jr.

John was born on October 16th 1951 in Mentor Ohio where he lived most of his life. John was a 1969 graduate of Mentor High School where he was a standout 3 sport athlete and obtained a Football Scholarship to Miami University of Ohio where he graduated from in 1973. He reconnected with a fellow 1969 graduate of Mentor High, Linda Nerevice whom he married in 1980. John went on to work for Bridgestone/Firestone in Akron Ohio as a manager in telecommunications until he retired in 2009. This is when he really started living. John and his wife Linda moved from their hometown of Mentor, Ohio to Boise, Idaho where John enjoyed golfing daily, mountain biking, camping in the Saw Tooth mountains, playing with his grandsons and helping out at his daughter Tera’s Dental office. John and his wife loved the Boise area, and mountain life however after 9 years in Boise, John and Linda decided to move to Lakewood Ranch, Florida in 2018 to be closer to his youngest grandchildren. John quickly assumed the role of “Manny” to his grandkids, Johnny, Liam and Layla who he loved more than anything. He was often seen in the neighborhood playing catch, getting rebounds and driving the kids to practice on a daily basis. Along with caring for his grandchildren he had a passion for golfing with his son-in-law, John as well as friends both old and new. He was an avid Cleveland Browns, Cavs and Indians fan. He got so much joy from watching his grandsons play baseball, basketball and hockey and would even watch Fortnite and Dude Perfect videos with them! He was keeping score at every one of his grandsons Lakewood Ranch Little League games, enjoying the Florida climate with his wife and going on his morning bike rides right up until the end. John was fiercely loyal and loving to his wife and family, patient and kind to his grandchildren and always ready to help and give advice to anyone who needed it. He made all of our lives better just by being there and we will never stop missing him.

John is survived by his Wife, Linda, son Lance (Deannea) Tranter of North Royalton, OH, daughter Dr Tera Tranter of Charlotte NC, and daughter Carly (John) Lackaff of Lakewood Ranch Florida. His 9 grandchildren, Gage Slyvain, Arden Angelina, Beck Holden, Jude West, Luxe and Sawyer Bodhe Tranter as well as John Joseph, Liam Michael and Layla June Lackaff. His Siblings Susan (Bob) Rose. Deborah Viher and Joseph Viher. His 8 nieces and nephews, Jennie, Melissa and Carrie (Rose), Rachel, Ally and Billy Parry and Jake and Jessica Viher.

John was preceded in death by his Father, John Peter Viher Sr and his Mother Jean Viher nee Sullivan.

Memorial mass to be held at 10 AM on November 16, 2019 at Our Lady of the Angels Catholic Church 12905 E State Rd 70 Lakewood Ranch Florida.
