Katherine "Kitty" L. Thomas, aged 89, passed away on February 17, 2026. Born on August 15, 1936, in Georges Township, Pennsylvania, she was the beloved daughter of John and Alberta (Kozel) Thomas. Kitty graduated from high school in Cleveland, Ohio.
Kitty was married to William Shipman for 27 years, beginning around 1945-46. Together, they moved to Florida, driven by their great desire to be near the beaches, always interested in nautical themes. Kitty worked as a clerical office person and held various jobs in the county and manufacturing sectors. Her last employment was with Florida Cancer Specialists in Bradenton. Kitty had a passion for the beach, loving the sun and water, and her home beautifully reflected that love.
Kitty was predeceased by her husband, William Shipman, and her brother, Jack Thomas. She is survived by her cherished sister, Bobbie Faye Grywalski from Cleveland. Kitty is also survived by her Sister Bobbie her husband Al and their family together, stepson Jim and his loving wife, Dianne Shipman. Jim's two brothers, Bill and Ken, have passed, leaving their sister, Sue, as a survivor.
A graveside service will be held on Monday, February 23, 2026, at 10:00 am at the Robert Toale and Sons Funeral Home at Manasota Memorial Park, located at 1221 53rd Ave East, Bradenton, FL 34203.
Kitty will be remembered as a beloved, cherished, and compassionate individual.
