Laurie Hill, 78, who loved to be called Nana by all, arrived in heaven on August 5, 2021. Laurie was born in Bristol, Connecticut, on January 28, 1943, to Velma Louise and John Laurie Wiggins. She was the oldest of five daughters who were affectionately known as the “Wiggins Sisters.”
Laurie attended Manatee High School in Bradenton, Florida, where she was a member of the 1960’s “Sugar Cane’s” dance team. She worked various administrative assistant jobs throughout her life while raising her children. Her final position was working at Victory Christian Church, where she retired from her role after years of serving. Yet, Laurie NEVER retired from having a servant’s heart! She knew how to make everyone around her feel loved, and always placed a high value on her family and friends. Her faith meant everything to her as she was a prayer warrior who taught her family the value of loving God and others. She was a member of Bayside Community Church.
Laurie is survived by her three daughters and their husbands, Connie Smith (Donnie), Valerie Ellery (Gregg), Christina Cruz (Juan); twelve grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; four sisters, Valerie Moore (Eugene), Jonna Alfonso (Danny), Betsy Bouwhuizen (Herman), Hallie Anson; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and lifetime friends, all of whom loved her dearly.
In addition to her parents, Velma and John, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roger Alan Hill, and her sweet son, Ryan Alan Hill.
The family invites you to join them for Laurie’s Celebration of Life on Friday, August 20th at 6:30 PM at Bayside Community Church (15800 SR 64 East Bradenton, Florida). It will be in the main auditorium/sanctuary which will allow plenty of space for families who would like to attend and honor her, yet still be able to social distance safely. Flowers are welcome, or in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Laurie Hill Memorial Fund at any Wells Fargo’s branch locations or mailed to 1907 143rd Court East, Bradenton, FL 34212.
