Born January 6, 1920 in Smiths Grove, Kentucky, he served as Chairman of the Board on the Princess Lakes Planning Commission and as a school board member for the Nineveh/Hensley/Trafalgar School District. He was a member of the Prospect Masonic Lodge. In 1977 he retired from Eli Lilly Company with 30 years of service. After moving from Indianapolis to Florida in 1981, he become a member of Southside Christian Church in Sarasota for 25 years, where he served as a board member and a deacon.
“Whitey” was inducted into the Amateur Softball Hall of Fame in 1985. He was a faithful & devoted husband, father and grandfather. His wife of 71 years, Alta, passed away in 2011. He is survived by daughters Patricia and Deborah and son-in-law Charles, by grandchildren Kim, Billie, Jason, Alanna and Sara, and by great-grandchildren Sabrina, Brian, Riley and Tristan.
Visitation will be held November 24th from 10–11am with Funeral Services directly following at 11am at Manasota Memorial Park and Funeral Home, 1221 53rd Avenue, East in Bradenton, Florida.
