

Michael was born on February 16th, 1943 to Donald and Claire (Stone) Purcell in Alton, IL. After graduating from Alton Senior High School in 1961, he went on to study Business Southern Illinois University (SIU). He served in the Army for two years in between his college terms.
After graduating with a degree in Business, he went on to work in multiple fields, including television. These careers took him to many different states, including California, West Virginia and Florida, concluding his career as an entrepreneur owning and operating a printing business in Ft. Pierce, Florida for over 30 years.
During his time living in West Virginia, Michael met Sharon (Sherry) Fox, becoming lifelong friends. They married in 2006 in an intimate waterfront ceremony in Jamaica. Though Michael and Sherry never had biological children together, he loved and was loved by his step-daughter, Stacy Cannon and her husband.
In 2020, Michael retired and spent his time golfing, and continuing to deepen his knowledge of history and current affairs, technology and innovation, and sports. He always had a smile on his face, and something to add to every conversation.
Michael was predeceased by his mother and father, Claire and Donald Purcell. He is survived by his two younger brothers and their wives, Patrick and Marla Purcell and Donald “DJ” Purcell and Catherine “Kay” Wallick. His wife Sharon “Sherry” Fox and step-daughter Stacy Cannon and husband James Taylor.
