Robert Michael Crockett, Mike, was born and raised in St. Petersburg, FL. He enjoyed the outdoors, and was active with Scouts in his early years. Mike joined the Army in the mid 1970’s, and was honorably discharged after a brief stint due to medical issues. His career of jobs after that were based around emergency/towing services, whether it be behind the desk at dispatch or out on the truck himself. This was his introduction into actively helping others, something he truly cherished.
While on a call one rainy night, Mike was struck by a vehicle and severely injured. While a major blow, this served to open new doors for him, and he chose to step through. His strength and positive outlook throughout the remainder of his life came not from a body that constantly conspired to fail him, but from his faith, the love of his life, April, and the fellowship he developed at Bayside Community Church, as well as his ‘small groups’ and many, many other friends. As part of his ‘old’ family, scattered around the U.S., we are grateful for the outreach and love given to ‘Mikey’ by the Church. Mike found his passion with the church, and was appreciative of what he could do to give back.
Mike is pre-deceased by his wife, April, parents, Bob and Jill Crockett, and his sister, Lynn Crockett Becker. He is survived by his sister, Beth Huggins, and her family, and his brother, David Crockett, and his family. He is also survived by his sister, Lynn’s, family, and, of course, the many people he personally blessed in his 67 years.
There will be a celebration of Mike’s life at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 19th at Bayside Community Church, Dream Center Campus, 1816 9th Street W, Bradenton 34205.
In lieu of flowers, please give charitably to your favorite church and/or to Bayside Community Church in Mike’s name.
