

David Frank Morelli Sr. passed away on Sunday, Sept. 11th from a cardiac event after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He was 79 years old. David was born in Nichols, CA and graduated from Mt. Diablo High School in 1954. After serving in the U.S. Army for two years, he enjoyed nearly a 40 year career with the Union Pacific Railroad. He married Marilyn Bottomley of San Francisco in 1967 and had two children. David retired in 1999 and was an avid Raider’s and Dodger’s fan. He enjoyed collecting railroad memorabilia and loved spending time with his family, especially traveling to see extended relatives. David is survived by his two sons, David Jr. (Tomi) of Brentwood, CA and Anthony (Vanessa) of Queens Creek, AZ; five grandchildren, Amanda, Donnie, Katherine, Miranda and Nicholas, one great-grandchild, his two sisters, Lena (Donald) Jackson of Decatur, AL and Judy Denton of Boise, ID, along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn and parents, Anthony Morelli of El Sobrante, CA and Anne (Jerry) Beane of Walnut Creek, CA / Decatur, AL. David was a generous loving spirit, who enjoyed making people laugh and will be missed dearly by all who knew him.
Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial service on Friday, Sept. 23, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Brentwood Funeral Home, 839 First St in Brentwood. Internment to follow at Union Cemetery.
