Geraldine Jones

Geraldine Jones passed away on Friday after an honorable battle with colon cancer. She was affectionately known as “Jerry” to many friends and family and “Dean” to her family. Geraldine was full of love. She touched many lives with her caring spirit. She was the first to step in and help someone she saw was in need. Geraldine lived in Contra Costa County for the past 63 years. She lived in Martinez for 32 of those years. In 1989 Geraldine and her husband Bob retired from C& H sugar mill where she had worked for 29 years as a lab technician. Bob and Geraldine retired to a home they had built to over look the water in Bethel Island, Ca. The two of them lived there together until Bob’s death in 1996. From 1996 until 2007 Geraldine resided in their Bethel Island home with her two grandchildren that she raised. In 2007 Geraldine purchased a home in Antioch to be closer to family. She resided there for the past 5 years. Geraldine was devoted to her family. She had a passion for cooking and hosting family gatherings. She was very active in her church (Bethel Island Community Baptist Church), where she spent the past 17 years as an active and devoted member. Geraldine is survived by her 2 children: Vicky and Danny, adopted daughter Denise, 2 grand children: Michael and Michelle, 5 great grandchildren: Isabella (Bella), Sofia, Danielle, Jessie, and Jason, and 2 great-great grandchildren; Jayden and Bryson. She had one other grandson; James Paul Jones who passed away in October of this year, and her 3 brothers; Harold, Jack, and Leroy. Her generosity and love made a beautiful mark on this earth and she will be greatly missed by the many lives she impacted so deeply. Graveside services will be held on Wed November 21, 2012 at 1pm at Memory Gardens Cemetery 2011 Arnold Industrial Way in Concord, CA (925) 685-3464.
