

Jack Arata Resident of Brentwood Jack Arata passed away unexpectedly at his home in Brentwood on Friday, March 8, 2013. A lifelong resident of Brentwood, he was born in Stockton, CA on January 5, 1951. He attended local grammar schools and graduated from Liberty High. He studied art at UC Davis and comic book cartooning with Joe Kubert in New Jersey. A local apricot and peach farmer and talented artist, he blended his old-fashioned rural lifestyle with his passion for comic book art, study of dinosaurs, and love of science fiction. He was more than happy to keep up with the news of the day over early morning coffee with locals and daily lunches with friends. He was preceded in death by his father Mike Arata, Jr. and is survived by his mother Angela Gene Arata of Brentwood, brother and sister-in-law Michael and Judith Arata of Byron, sister and brother-in-law Jane and Peter Wolfe of Brentwood, nephews Phillip and Nicholas Arata and nieces Ann Murray and Cathy Voortman. Graveside services will be held Thursday March 14, 11:00 AM at Holy Cross Cemetery, Antioch, CA. Relatives and Friends are invited to attend.
