Louis Junior Altes passed away peacefully at the Deer Valley Kaiser Hospital in Antioch after coming down with a combination of pneumonia and the flu, he was 85. He was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas and was the second son of Louis and Maudie Altes. He was the brother of William Altes, Charles Altes and Marry Higginbottom. He is survived by his wife of 58 years Virginia Altes, his sons Roy Mefford (Danuta), Robert and Kenneth Altes (Danie), daughters Brenda Shrives (Mike), and Theresa Hawkins (Rob). He had Seven Grand-children Lisa Dawson, Roy Mefford Jr., Sara Farmer, Maudie and Andrew Altes, Ashley and Eric Russell and six Great grand-children Benjamin and Justin Dawson, Haley and Jacob Mefford, Torry Shreives and Kalyn Farmer. He was a Certified California Nurseryman and longtime employee of the Gregory Brothers Nursery and Norman’s Brentwood Nursery. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the Navy and was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the Army. His hobbies included prospecting, camping, deer hunting and trout fishing. He was loved and will be greatly missed.

The family will hold a private memorial service on 18 March 2011.
