Melinda was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She is survived by her ex-husband, Dennis Pratt; her daughter, Jessica; her son, Cory; her granddaughter, Jazmine; and her soon-to-be grandson, Wade, whom she was excited to meet. She is also survived by her brothers, Phillip Combs and Dwight Combs, along with many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mary Combs, and her brothers, Anthony “Tony” Combs and Daniel “Dan” Combs.
Born on July 19, 1957, in Richmond, California, Melinda grew up surrounded by family and carried that love with her throughout her life. She graduated from Clayton Valley High School in 1975. In 1981, she married Dennis Pratt, and together they welcomed their two children, Jessica and Cory. Although they later divorced in 1991, the family they created remained one of her greatest sources of pride.
Melinda had a kind and generous spirit that touched everyone who knew her. She loved her family deeply, cherished her friendships, and had a special place in her heart for horses. She was passionate about recovery and was a devoted member of AA. Through her involvement, she not only found strength but gave it freely to others—planning events, volunteering her time, and always showing up for anyone who needed support.
Melinda’s love and compassion will be missed, but her spirit will live on in the many lives she touched.
