Robert Burr (Bob) Eberhard passed away peacefully at his home in Brentwood after a brief illness on Wednesday October 9, 2013. He was 87 years old. He is survived by his wife Shirlene Eberhard, daughters Marita Stassen of Ecuador, Sandie Raefield of Alamo, and Judy Stubblefield of Georgia. He will be especially missed by his grandson Jason Keele, whom Bob also raised as a son
Bob was born April 12, 1926 in his family home in Colon Michigan, and spent his early years in Michigan before joining the US Navy and serving in World War II. After the war, the lure of the sea beckoned him to be a Merchant Mariner before settling in Northern California in both Richmond and Concord. He ran a painting contracting business until his retirement.
Bob loved hunting and fishing, baseball and bowling, and bowled a perfect 300 game which he was proud to tell anyone who would listen. He possessed a sharp wit and a devilish tongue. He stayed in excellent health all of his life even after suffering a heart attack at age 40. His Michigan upbringing from strong German ancestors gave him a will to live and a strong work ethic.
He will be missed by his extensive family, friends, and close neighbors. Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Tuesday October 15th from 5pm to 8pm at Brentwood Funeral Home. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, October 16th at 11am at Brentwood Neighborhood Church 50 Birch Street in Brentwood, CA.
