A long-time resident of Pittsburg, Ca., Sharon was a loving wife to her husband Bill of 59 years. She was a proud mother to Susan (Cannon), Sheryl (Obegi), and Sonia (Falaschi) and a doting Grandmother to Anthony, Corie Lee, Mia, and Mason. She also survived by her sister, Cathy Pennybacker of Ohio and her two sons-in-law, Craig Cannon and Gabby Obegi.
Sharon’s life was one of caring and service. Sharon was a Licensed Vocational Nurse for over 40 years. After retiring from Los Medanos Community Hospital, Sharon used her nursing skills to care for and foster medically fragile children.
Sharon spent over 45 years as a leader for the Contra Costa County 4-H program. Sharon chaperoned many trips, led a variety of projects, and served as a mentor for county All Stars. Sharon also volunteered her nursing services to the Contra Costa County 4-H Camp program for many summers. In addition to the 4-H program, Sharon was an avid supporter of the Brentwood FFA Chapter.
One of Sharon’s favorite events was the Contra Costa County Fair. During the fair you could always find Sharon sitting ringside cheering on livestock competitors and greeting old friends. Many will remember Sharon for her infectious laugh and generosity.
Sharon loved crafting (especially creating baby blankets and items for youth auctions), baking her famous magic bar cookies, and watching football – primarily the San Francisco 49ers. Sharon loved the New Mecca Café, Chanel #5, and an iced cold Pepsi.
A Celebration of Life will be held on August 26, 2023 for family and friends at the Contra Costa County Fair Heritage Grove Pavilion.
In lieu of flowers, and in remembrance for Sharon’s love of service, please consider donations to the Contra Costa County 4-H Program.
