Born on April 22, 1948, in Santa Clara, Tim was one of 11 children in a big, loving family. He spent his early years in Santa Clara before moving to Banta, and eventually settling in Tracy, where he attended Tracy High School. A proud member of the Tracy High Bulldogs football team, Tim wore jersey #51 and graduated in 1966.
Tim enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving honorably as a truck driver and ammunition sergeant during the Vietnam War. Upon returning home, he settled in San Jose, where he met the love of his life, Sharon Sheets. The two married in 1971 and began their life together in San Jose.
Tim was a hardworking man who began truck driving at just 16, working alongside his brother Manny. His passion and dedication led him to start his own business, Tim Costa Trucking. In 1973, he and Sharon welcomed their daughter, Brandi Costa (Puente). In 1982, the family moved to Brentwood, California, where Tim continued building a life rooted in love and laughter.
A devoted fan of the San Francisco 49ers, San Francisco Giants, and Golden State Warriors, Tim could often be found watching games, cheering passionately, and enjoying every moment of the action. He also had a deep love for trucks and a soft spot for crime shows, especially Forensic Files.
Above all, Tim’s greatest joy was being “Papa” to his grandson, Jacob Puente. He never missed a game, always cheering Jacob on with pride and love. He shared his football knowledge, his catching skills, and his unwavering support—instilling in Jacob a love of the game and of life.
Tim is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sharon Costa, who passed away in 2014. He is survived by his daughter Brandi and grandson Jacob, as well as his many siblings, nieces, nephews, and friends. He will be remembered for his big heart, his booming voice, and the enduring love he gave to those around him.
He will be deeply missed, but his legacy lives on in the family and friends who were lucky enough to know and love him.
A memorial service for Timothy will be held Saturday, June 7, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Brentwood Funeral Home, 839 1st St, Brentwood, California 94513.
