Charline was born in 1936 in Spring Hill, TN to the late Charles and Myrtle Smith. She was a graduate of Spring Hill High School, then received her bachelor’s degree from MTSU in 1959.
After a brief stint with the TBI, Charline began a successful 35-year career with ASCAP in Nashville as their Membership Services Administrator, until she retired in 2010. She was a fierce advocate and good friend to many of Nashville’s finest songwriters, and she dearly loved all her co-workers at ASCAP like family.
Charline married Tom Wilhite in 1978 and were together for 33 years before his passing in 2011. They were both faithful members of their Sunday School class at Clearview Baptist Church and loved seeing their friends each week.
Family was always a priority for Charline, and she loved hosting the family get togethers, especially at Thanksgiving and Christmas.
She is survived by her sons, Bart (Elizabeth) and Brad (Marna) Pemberton, and grandsons Jay and Will Pemberton, and her sister, Mary Ruth Mains.
A service will be held at 11:30 am on Tuesday, November 7th at Clearview Baptist Church, 537 Franklin Rd. in Brentwood, TN, officiated by John Gardner.
Friends will be received at 9:30am at the church. In lieu of flowers, we ask you to consider a donation to Alive Hospice of Nashville.
