

Gary was a true free spirit—an adventurer at heart who found joy in the open road, the outdoors, and the stories he gathered along the way. He loved to travel and write songs inspired by his experiences, capturing moments of life through music and memory. His independent nature guided him down a path uniquely his own, leading him to many places and introducing him to countless people.
Throughout his life, especially in his younger years, Gary formed lasting friendships across the many chapters of his journey, he will be remembered fondly by those who knew him for his individuality, his stories, and the impression he left on others.
Gary proudly served in the USAF as a medical airman from 1979 to 1984 and was honorably discharged.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Mack and Ruth Mooneyham.
He is survived by his siblings, JoAnn (Allen) Akin, John (Jennifer) Mooneyham, Connie (Joey) Cain, Robert (Robin) Mooneyham, Kathleen Mooneyham, along with extended family and many dear friends.
Gary found happiness in life’s simple pleasures—camping under the stars, canoeing along quiet waters, and spending time outdoors. Above all, he valued living life on his own terms, embracing freedom, adventure, and authenticity.
His presence touched many and his memory will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
May he rest in peace.
