

Roger was born on June 28, 1965, to Roger Barnwell Witherspoon Sr. and Mary Catherine Hammonds in The Bronx, NY. After graduating from Wilkes Central High School, in Wilkesboro, NC, he furthered his education at The Citadel Military College of South Carolina in Charleston where he was a running back for the football team.
Roger was married to the love of his life, Dr. Christi Witherspoon, on November 16, 2000, in Negril, Jamaica. They have two beautiful daughters Gabrielle and Rachel Witherspoon, who he adored and were the joy of his life. He was often seen on the soccer field or basketball court coaching his girls. His family and friends will remember him as a loving and devoted father whose presence brightened the lives of those around him.
Roger had an illustrious career with GlaxoSmithKline for almost 30 years where he flourished as a leader in sales and was consistently a top performer.
Roger’s love for the Lord started at an early age while attending church with his grandmother. He had a passion for all things Detroit Lions and was an avid duck hunter. During his free time, he could be found on the golf course. He also treasured his annual trip with his friends, “The Spud Dawgs” and looked forward to reminiscing over his college days.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by Christi, Gabrielle, and Rachel, his only sibling Douglas Eugene Witherspoon, nephew Douglas Eugene Witherspoon II, niece Yasmeen Iman Gilbert (Kelso), in-laws Reverend Benjamin and Mrs. Ann Bell, brother-in-law Christopher Bell (Tareia), nephew Langston Bell, and a host of family and friends.
He leaves behind a remarkable legacy for his daughters and will truly be missed.
