

Sally Anne McGrath Williams, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2024, at the age of 80. Sally was born on July 19, 1944, in England. She was the daughter of James and Moira McGrath, a U.S. Army officer and an English nursing student who met during WWII.
She is survived by her husband, Larry Williams; brother Nicholas McGrath and wife Janet McGrath; daughter Angela Johnson and husband Mark Johnson; son Darin Williams and wife Emily Williams; grandchildren Elizabeth Johnson Ruby and husband JJ Ruby, Mitchell Johnson, Paul Williams and Anna Williams.
Sally met her husband Larry at Marshall University where she was a member of the first women’s swim team, marched with the Marshall Majorettes and was a member of Alpha Xi Delta sorority. Larry and Sally married on August 28, 1965 in Huntington, WV.
Over the course of their marriage, Sally and Larry resided in Indianapolis, IN, Louisville, KY, Brentwood, TN, Dover, DE, and Nolensville, TN. Sally was an active member of St Paul’s Episcopal church in Indianapolis and served as the Director of St. Paul’s Nursery School for many years. Sally was a successful realtor in Louisville, KY, and worked at the PENCIL Foundation and Donaldson Christian Academy in Nashville TN.
Sally and Larry moved to Dover, DE in 1993. During their retirement they both enjoyed playing bridge with friends, spending time with family (especially their grandchildren), travelling and volunteering. Sally and Larry celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary this past August (2024).
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 4, 2025 in the Chapel of Holy Family Catholic Church at 9100 Crockett Rd, Brentwood, TN 37027. There will be a gathering at the church for family and friends immediately following the service.
