

WHITE, Alice Day, 97, of Brooksville, FL passed away July 31, 2016. She was born in Rileyville, PA to Florence (Keesler) and Edwin S. Day. At her age, she knew the hardships of the Great Depression. She moved to Stanfordville, NY, where she spent the rest of her life until retirement to Florida. Among the many activities in her lifetime, she was adept at numerous crafts, was a member of the NYS Extension Service, participated in the making of the commorative quilt for the Dutchess County Historical Society. She was tax collector for the Town of Stanford and helped set up the 1st computer for the assessors tax roll. She took the local government census for the year 1960 and served on the Grand Jury. She loved to write poems about her life in the good ole days. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Leon B. White. She is survived by daughter: Marilyn W. MacDonald; grandchildren: John MacDonald (Carol); Gwen Burley (Charles); Jeanne Kropp; great-grandson: Brent Kropp. Private services to be held at a later date.
