

LEONE, Anthony D., age 90 of Spring Hill passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2015 at HPH Hospice in New Port Richey, FL. Born in Philadelphia, PA he came to this area in 1999 from Sarasota, FL. He retired at age 50 after a successful career as a residential and commercial General Contractor. Mr. Leone was a decorated WWII Army Veteran who was awarded the Silver Star, which is the third-highest military combat decoration that can be awarded to a member of the United States Armed Forces for gallantry while engaged in action against an enemy of the United States.
He was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church. Mr. Leone was married to Josephine for 72 years before she passed away only one month before his death. His survivors include their three daughters: Lindann Hamilton of San Antonio, FL, Nadine Leone of Las Vegas, NV & Janet Leone of New Port Richey, FL; his granddaughter: Alexis Leone Hamilton and “his baby”, Gino the Cat. Mr. Leone was known as the “Angel Man”, as over the past thirty years he made gold angel and rose pins that he passed out to many he came in contact with in his daily life.
A memorial service will be held 1:00pm Saturday, May 16, 2015 at Merritt Funeral Home, Spring Hill Chapel. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32259 or the SPCA of Hernando County, 9075 Grant Street, Brooksville, FL 34613.
