Born January 2, 1943, he came to the area 35 years ago from his native Rogers City, Michigan. Captain Kortman proudly served his country and was a United States Army veteran and Merchant Marine. He was a member of the Spring Hill Eagles Club and Forest Oaks Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his loving wife, Kay; son, David Kortman Jr. of Spring Hill, Florida; daughter and son-in-law, Stacey & Jamie White of Weeki Wachee, Florida; and five grandchildren.
A Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2020 at Merritt Funeral Home, Spring Hill Chapel. Family is welcomed from 2:00-3:00pm and friends will be welcomed from 3:00-4:00pm. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to HPH Hospice.
