Charles "Chuck" Edwin McConnell

He was the son of Lyle McConnell Sr. and Leona Teachman McConnell, and he is predeceased by both parents.  He is also predeceased by siblings William McConnell and Jean McConnell Norton.  He is survived by his youngest brother Lyle (Janice) McConnell Jr. 

His wife of over 64 years, Dorothy Jones McConnell, daughters, Karen (Richard) Conlin of Michigan, Mitzi (Brian) Jones of Virginia, and Robin (Andrew) Smaldone of New York and several grandchildren and great grandchildren will gather at Brooksville Wesleyan Church, Wesleyan Village in Brooksville, Florida, on Friday, June 25th at 10:30 AM for a memorial service.  The service is available to friends and family in person and online at www.bwcflorida.com/watch.  Visitation is from 9:45am – 10:30am at the church.

Charles “Chuck” earned an A.A.S degree from Alfred Technical College in 1948 and used continuing education programs at Alexander Hamilton Institute to achieve a certificate in Modern Business.  Chuck served in the U.S. Army as a tank driver and was honorably discharged in 1956. 

His career at Ingersoll Rand in Painted Post, New York, consisted of two separate periods from 1952 to 1972 with multiple leadership responsibilities and again from 1975 to 1982 with a short-term position at Corning Glass Works.

Chuck gave of his considerable sports skills, talents, and time to Victory Highway Church (Riverside Wesleyan) and to local youth as President of the Cinderella Softball league and Erwin Valley High School Football and Basketball teams.  As a student he received medals for Track, Citizenship, and Speech. 

As a young boy he attended the Baptist Church in Woodhull, New York, with his family. There he learned all about God’s love.  Chuck leaves us with an amazing 80-year legacy of loving Jesus and sharing his Christian faith with everyone he met.  

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Brooksville Wesleyan Church for Pavilion Landscaping.
