
SWEATT, Earl Eugene, age 78 of Brooksville, FL, passed away on Thursday, May 2, 2013 at HPH Hospice Care Center. The son of a share cropper, Mr. Sweatt and his wife of 50+ years, Janice, came to this area in 1980 from his native Bennettsville, SC. He was owner and operator of a transit company, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and a U.S. Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a volunteer with the American Red Cross, Boy Scouts, and several other charities throughout his lifetime. Earl lived by many mottos, including: “It is better to work out than rust out“; and “If you can‘t say something nice, don‘t say anything at all.” His family describes him as a kind, loving, patient, humble, personal and generous man who would go out of his way to assist someone in need. In addition to his wife Janice, Mr. Sweatt is survived by 4 children: Brenda (Lewis) Cook of Rhode Island, Adam Sweatt of Spring Hill, FL, Robert Sweatt of South Carolina, and Anita Campbell of South Carolina; 2 brothers: Paul T. (Lois) Sweatt of South Carolina, Roy (Ann) Sweatt of North Carolina, and Pauline (Roland) Greer of North Carolina; 3 Grandchildren: J. Whitney L. S. C. (Jeffrey)Weatherford, Emily Campbell and Sabrina D. Campbell, all of South Carolina; 3 Great-Grandchildren: Curtis Langley, Peyton, Gracyn and Mason Weatherford, all of South Carolina; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother James R. Sweatt.
