Ghale Cheers Thomas, Sr.

THOMAS Sr., Ghale C., age 86, of Spring Hill, FL passed away on August 28, 2016. Ghale was born in Cranberry Lake, NY. He was a proud U.S. Army veteran who later became a certified general contractor and ran his own construction business. As an entrepreneur, he also started several family run companies such as Teddy Bear Subs and Spring Lake Bottled Water. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, hunting, and gun collecting, and also spent many years slinging dirt as a dune buggy driver for F.O.R.D.A. Ghale was known and loved for his friendly and outgoing personality and will be well remembered for his sense of humor, jokes, and great stories. Ghale is survived by his wife of 65 years, Elinor, and their dog, Tippy. His seven children: Patricia “Patti” Ferguson of Spring Hill, Ghale Jr. “Butch” Thomas of Spring Hill, Robert “Bob” Thomas of St. Petersburg, James “Jim” Thomas of Houston, TX, Cynthia “Cindy” (Bill) Radike of Spring Hill, Dixie Thomas of Sweden and Kelly Thomas (Steven Hutra) of Jacksonville. His sister: Dorthea “Dottie” Thomas. His nephew, Pete, and many other nephews and nieces. His seven grandchildren: Brent, Raegan, Rachel, Jacob, Michael, Max and Zoe and seven great grandchildren: Dawson, Sienna, Aubree, Aliza, Jax, Randy and River. Visitation for friends will be 10am - 12pm Sunday, September 4, 2016 at Merritt Funeral Home, Spring Hill Chapel where a funeral service will take place at 12pm. Interment will follow at Florida Hills Memorial Gardens, Spring Hill.
