Jacqueline was born in Melbourne, Florida, to Hubert Thomas Davis and Shirley Marie Price on January 15, 1944. She spent her early years in Albuquerque, New Mexico, before returning to Florida. She graduated from Robinson High School in Tampa, Florida in 1962, and continued her education at the University of South Florida. There, she received her undergraduate education in music and education, and eventually, she earned her master’s degree in counselling.
For over 30 years, Jacqueline served her community in the Hernando County School District, first as a teacher and later as a guidance counsellor at Central High School. Her first love was music, and she shared that gift generously throughout her life. In 1961, Jacqueline wrote the music and words for her own high school, which is still used to this day. She went on to become the organist and choir director at several different churches, until settling at Grace Presbyterian Church for 30 years.
She is survived by her daughter, Alexis Major (Andrew Frey) of Spring Hill, Florida; her son, Jonathan Major (Theresa Major) of Eldersburg, Maryland; her sister, Kathy Booker (Marcus Booker) of Clayton, Georgia; and her grandchildren, Kelsey Decker (Adam Decker), James Frey, Julianne Major, Charles Frey and Louis Major.
