James "Fred" F. Blackburn Jr.

Fred, as he was commonly called, was born on February 21, 1945 in Brooksville, Florida to James F. Sr. and Ola Mae Blackburn. He was raised in Spring Lake and was proud of his rural heritage. The Blackburn’s have lived in Spring Lake since the 1700s.

Fred leaves behind his wife, Virginia; children, Freddy (Amy) and Melissa (Joe); stepchildren, Todd (JoAnn) and Michele (Brent); sister, Phyllis (Dave); grandchildren, Rebekah, Sarah, Savannah, Austin, Courtney, and Justin; great-grandchildren, Nathan, Allie Jo, and Taylor Grace; nephew, Mark (Lauren); and niece, Kelley. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Jennifer; his parents; and grandsons, Matthew and Taylor.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, March 23, 2024 at Spring Lake Community Center, 4184 Spring Lake Highway, Brooksville, FL 34601. A Graveside Service will follow at 1:00pm at Spring Lake Cemetery, 26525 Ernest Lee Road, Brooksville, FL 34602.
