Uncle John was a strong and humble person. He talked the talk and he walked the walk.  He was adored by his late little sister Ada.  He will be missed by all of us that knew and loved him!May you rest in the arms of Jesus now Uncle John!

I am glad that Pop Pop is in Heaven now.  He is the blessed one and is in the better place.  I pray for Mom Mom as she is without her spouse of so many years and it has to be unimaginably hard.We have so many fond memories of Pop Pop.  We would call him "Poor Ole Pop Pop" and he would just grin or maybe he would look at us real hard.  He loved his hot dogs even when he was told he shouldn't have them anymore.  I remember the TV being tuned in to Billy Graham.  He certainly did love his tomatoes, in fact I think he taught us to pick it right from the garden, throw a little salt on, and eat it.  YUMMY!  I remember all the family gatherings at Pop Pop and Mom Mom's, especially around Christmas.  All the cousins would hang together while the adults talked.  I will be meeting him in glory one day and there is such a peace in that knowledge.  Uncle Bruce was correct in thanking Pop Pop for his faith as it was passed down to my father, then to me, then to my children.  That is a wonderful legacy and the only legacy that really counts.  We love you Mom Mom and will miss you Pop Pop!!  xo, xo, xo...

My Eternal Debt to Mr. John C. Monk I am eternally indebted to Mr. John C. Monk for my Salvation.  Mr. Monk was my wife Janet’s Father.  I grew up with no spiritual upbringing.  But fortunately - due to her Father John Monk and her Mother Dorothy’s faith – bringing up their children in Church – giving them a firm foundation in Christianity, Janet had a solid faith in God, and the Lord Jesus abundantly filled her heart.  And because of that, Janet lovingly  encouraged me to seek Him – and thankfully I did.  And over the years our faith – and our love - grew more and more because of that. I hope that John Monk’s impact on my life due to his faith – and raising his children in a manner that filled their hearts with that faith as well – will be mentioned as part of the memorial of his life. Thank you, Mr. Monk, for my life in Christ.  I am eternally indebted to you, and the Angels in Heaven well know it!  Thank you, Mr. Monk!  Bruce Koehler

I was saddened to hear of the passing of John but i was grateful to have met him back in 2006 when he and Dorothy had their 65th wedding anniversary in Darlington. John's jolly laugh and great sense of humor was contagious. While visiting he often remarked about the old days when Uncle Fayette and Aunt Josie were still around. He fondly remembered my great grandmother Audra Mae (his first  cousin) and her parents:Walter and Laura Belle Monk. He told me some wonderful stories of the past i will never forget. I offer my deepest sympathies for the loss to the Monk family.
