

Caso, Mary Joan, age 69 of Brooksville, died Fri., June 25, 2010. She was born to the late Luigi & Anna Muti on August 6, 1940 and grew up in Hoboken, NJ. Mary graduated from Demarest High School in 1957. She married Robert P. Caso in 1962, and they lived together in East Rutherford, NJ for 20 years before relocating to Brooksville in 1986. In 1983, the Mayor and City Council selected her as the Number One Citizen for East Rutherford for the Bergen County Tricentennial year, in recognition of her community service contributions to youth sports, and as president of both the Becton Regional High School Parents Association and the town’s Recreation Commission. Mary inspired others by her decades long struggle with kidney disease and subsequent kidney transplant. Mary was a member of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, the Brookridge Women’s Club and formerly was an active bowler at Mariner Lanes and secretary of her league for many years. In addition to her husband, Robert, Mary is survived by four children: Robert P. Caso, Jr. of Leesburg, Charles Caso of Spring Hill, April Ishak of Havre de Grace, MD and Christine Stewart of Spotsylvania, VA; 9 grandchildren and sister: Tina Balaskovits of Fairview, NJ. She was predeceased by her brother, Vito Muti. Visitation for friends will be 7 – 9pm, Mon., June 28, 2010 at the Merritt Funeral Home, Spring Hill Chapel. Memorial mass will be celebrated 11:00am, Tues., June 29, 2010 at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church. Inurnment will take place at a later date at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell.
