Mary Frances Griffith was born December 19, 1935 in Worthington, WV to Kephart Walker Jenkins and Lorena Thorne Jenkins. She was proudly named after two beloved aunts. Her family later relocated to Rivesville, WV where she attended school, was active in the 4-H and was named the PawPaw Queen in 1954, the same year she graduated from high school. While in the 4-H she mastered the skill of sewing, something she enjoyed until her death, After graduation she would begin a career with Bell South, later to become AT&T. She met her forever love in Robert Edward Griffith and they married in 1956. They moved to Brooksville in 1961 where she would continue her work with the phone company until her retirement after 35 years. As their love grew, so did their family, having four children, Sherrie Lynn, Michael Lee, Mark Christopher and Rebecca Sue. Mary was very active in her children’s lives, attending countless school plays, HYL, middle school and high school games. This continued on with her grandchildren Megan, Jordan, Loren, Hayden and Payton. Mary remained active in the First United Methodist Church until her passing. Sundays made her happy and purposeful. She was a true inspiration to all who knew her. We know the heavens are rejoicing in her presence.
While she was still able to talk, she called her entire family together and said a prayer that God would love, protect them and ensure happiness for the future. Always selfless.
