Bob was a beloved friend, father, grandfather and great grandfather who dedicated his life to his family.
Born on December 20, 1928, to Thomas Francis Kevin and Mary Bernadette (Morgan) Kevin in Medford, Massachusetts, Bob was the youngest of five children. He spent his childhood and teenage years in Medford where he met and married his high school sweetheart and wife of 71 years Doris Jeanne (Quinlan) Kevin. The two married in June 1950 and moved to St. Petersburg, Florida, where Bob hand built the couple’s first home. During that time they had three girls: Sharon, Pamela, and Susan. A New England gentleman to the core, Bob’s greatest love was his family, and he spent his lifetime doting on his wife, his girls, and his grandchildren.
To his family, friends, and grandchildren, he was simply “Papa.” Humble, kind, and intelligent, Papa was also a talented artist known for his artistic endeavors. Upon entering his house, one always found a table filled with canvas, acrylic paints, Sharpie markers, art magazines, and a warm cup of coffee. Bob’s artwork received numerous accolades, including in 2004 when his bronze sculpture The Wedding Day was named a “Chelsea Global Showcase Competition Winner” at the Amsterdam Whitney Gallery in New York City.
In his free time, Bob loved gardening, reading the newspaper, watching National Lampoon’s and Mel Brook’s movies, and enjoying a cold glass of Guinness.
Bob is survived by wife Doris Kevin; his three daughters & sons-in-law: Sharon & Jeff Pardue, Pamela & Dr. Myles Levitt and Susan Prinz; 7 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations to the Circle of Friends of the Gulfport Public Library in Gulfport, Florida.
