Robert Walter Schafer

SCHAFER, Robert W., age 86 of Spring Hill passed away Friday, February 1, 2013 at his home. Born in Youngstown, OH, he moved from Alliance, OH to Cloverleaf in Brooksville in 2002 and then to Spring Hill. He was a foreman for Transue & Williams, Alliance, OH, a WW II U.S. Navy Veteran and of the Methodist faith. He was an avid pool player, active in the Little League a/k/a  the Hot Stove League, and was a member of the Brooksville Veterans of Cloverleaf. Survivors include his wife: Donna; sons: Robert J. Schafer of Alliance, OH & Michael S. Schafer of Bradenton, FL; daughters: Lucindia Smith of Brimfield, OH, Dorothy Rogers of Alliance, OH, Tami Hirsch of Spring Hill, FL, Tina Louise Talarcyzk of Parma, OH & Traci Grassa of Brunswick, OH; brothers: Dwayne & Keith Schafer, both of Alliance, OH; sister: Lavell, also of Alliance; 14 grandchildren & 12 great grandchildren. Visitation for friends will be from 11:30am to 1:30pm Thursday, February 7, 2013 at Merritt Funeral Home, Spring Hill Chapel. Funeral service and military honors will follow at 2:30pm at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
