SCHAFFER, Robert H., age 88 of Spring Hill passed away Friday, October 16, 2015 at Oak Hill Hospital. Born in Astoria, NY he came to this area in 1983 from E. Meadow, NY. He worked for a carpet installation company and was a WW II U.S. Army Air Corp Veteran, where he was a cook. Robert was a “woodworker” and loved to fish and gamble. He was predeceased by his wife: Mary; son: Richard and his parents. Survivors include his sons: David, Robert, Michael & Billy Schaffer; daughter: Luann Parker; 2 step children; 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held 11:00am Monday, October 26, 2015 at Merritt Funeral Home, Spring Hill Chapel. There will be a gathering of friends prior to service, starting at 10:00am and again after the service until 12:30pm. Inurnment with Military Honors to follow at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.
