Born July 23, 1942 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Warren and Betty Raber. He was a United States Army veteran of 36 years and proudly served his country earning NCO of the year in 1993. His career has always been in aviation from a Huey Team Leader to his final duty station at Fort Rucker Alabama US Army Aviation Center School.
Terry was a life member of the VFW Post 6704 where he served as VFW Commander and VFW State Color Guard, VFW District 18 Commander and served 53 years with the American Legion beginning in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania Post 109 and continuing to Spring Hill, Florida Post 186. He was also a Elks Member Lodge 2257 and Life Member of the NRA. He was a Scout Master of Troop 80 for both sons, Howard and William, in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. He also served as Second Lieutenant in the Civil Air Patrol Squadron 302 with his son, William, in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania,
Terry is survived by his loving wife, Beverly Ann Raber; sons and daughter-in-law, Howard R. & Teresa Raber and William R. Raber; grandson, Justin T. Raber; siblings, Judy Shearer, Jamie Raber, Timothy Raber, Wade Raber, Jory Raber Sr., Randy Raber, and Gregory Raber. He is preceded in death by his granddaughter, Ashley M. Raber.
Terry was an avid hunter and also enjoyed fishing, bowling, billiards, gardening, and anything mechanical. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was truly devoted to his family and friends. He always had his favorite TV shows, but in his later years it was all about his Westerns.
He will truly be missed by all who he touched in his life.
A Visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00-11:30am, Thursday, August 8, 2024 at Merritt Funeral Home Brooksville, 2 South Lemon Avenue, Brooksville, Florida 34601, where Funeral Services begin at 11:30am. A Graveside Service will follow at 1:00pm at Florida National Cemetery, with military honors, 6502 SW 102nd Avenue, Bushnell, FL 33513.
