Arnold Dee Keeling

Arnold Dee Keeling, 90, of St. Simons Island passed away Friday, February 23, 2018. A native of Herrin, Illinois, he had been a resident of St. Simons Island for the past 6 years. Borne March 26, 1927, Mr. Keeling was the son of the late Earl Keeling and the late Vida Holman Keeling. He was a graduate of Toledo High School and a veteran of the United States Navy. Mr. Keeling was employed by General Motors for 26 years. He was a Captain of the Champion Fire Department for 30 years. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge and Belleview Nazarene. He enjoyed bowling, gardening, fishing, and camping. He loved to spend time with his family.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Keeling was preceded in death by his wife Ula Mae Keeling, two brothers, and two sisters.

He is survived by his son Douglas H. Keeling and wife Barbara of Kentucky; Daughter Katheryn McFarland and husband Duane of St. Simons Island, GA; Six grandchildren Justin Keeling, Ashley Henderson, Travis Keeling, Mike Day, Guy McFarland, and Melissa Petro; Eleven great-grandchildren; Six great –great -grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. with a visitation one hour before the service at 9:00 A.M. in the chapel of Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home with Reverend Tony Lankford officiating. Interment will follow at 2:00 P.M. at Jacksonville National Cemetery in Jacksonville, Florida.

Serving pallbearers are Duane McFarland, Jeremy Petro, Ryan Dally, Joseph Dally, Travis Keeling, and Jonathan Wood.
