Betty "BJ" June Lawson

Miss Lawson had been a resident of St. Simons Island for more than 20 years. She was born in Earlehurst, Va., February 20, 1932, daughter of the late Buford L. Lawson and the late Anna Webb Lawson. Miss Lawson had a career in banking, and was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. She spent her life raising her two daughters and providing for her family. She was fond of cats.

Miss Lawson was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, James B. Lawson. Survivors include her two daughters, Terry L. Oprendek and Michelle V. Hupp; sons-in-law, Richard K. Oprendek and William G. Thalmann; sister, Harriet M. Tippett, and brother-in-law, Daniel C. Tippett; brother, Billy R. Lawson; and nieces and nephews, whom she loved dearly.

Miss Lawson’s memorialization was by cremation; a celebration of Miss Lawson’s life may be announced at a later date.
