

Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church, St. Simons on Monday, May 12, 2014 at 11 a.m. with Dr. Felix Haynes and Dr. Bill Henderson officiating. Interment will follow at Oglethorpe Memorial Gardens on St. Simons Island. . Active pallbearers will be Robert Lorch, Brian Lorch, Taylor Lorch, Michael Brantley, Mike Lynch, and Dan Myers. Honorary pallbearers will be The Builders Sunday School Class.
Rev. Milton was born in Toombs County Georgia to the late Rev. Carl Eugene Milton and the late Lottie Herrington Milton. He received his education at Kingsland High School, Brewton-Parker Junior College, Stetson University, and Southeastern Baptist Seminary. Rev. Milton pastored churches in Pearson, Springfield, Lyons, Savannah, and Glennville. He then became the Director of Missions for Daniell Baptist Association.
He was active in denomination and civic life, having served on the Executive Committee of the Georgia Baptist Convention, the Board of Trustees of Brewton-Parker College, and the Board of Trustees of Baptist Village. He was also a member of many civic organizations, and was elected the first Citizen of the Year in Lyons. After his retirement, he served as interim pastor for 8 years to churches in Glynn and the adjoining counties. He then became active in First Baptist Church, St. Simons where he was elected a Lifetime Deacon. He is survived by his wife of sixty-five years, Sara Lynn Jordan Milton, a son, Joe Milton (Becky) of Brunswick, two daughters, Nancy Ford (Steve) of St. Simons Island, and Donna Lorch (David) of Suwanee, GA. He was Papa Carl to six grandchildren: Tiffani Milton Brantley (Michael) of Woodstock, GA, Tara Milton Lynch (Mike) of Cumming, GA, Jennifer Ford Meyers (Dan) of St. Simons Island, Robert Lorch (Amanda) of Loganville, GA, Brian Lorch (Sara) of Findlay, OH, and Taylor Lorch of Suwanee, GA. Two great grandchildren are Parker Lorch and Walker Meyers. A surviving sister is Anne Milton Edwards of Statesboro, GA. Extended family includes a nephew Mark Edwards (Kathleen) and their son, Elliot, and three step great-grandchildren, Connor, Aidan, and Mackenzie. Memorial donations may be made to The Carl J.
