Charles Walter Hope

Mr. Hope was a native of Liberty County and was raised in McIntosh County. He moved to Douglas County and became a welder with Bankhead Enterprises and after retirement moved back to McIntosh County. He was a Fisherman and loved to fish. He loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was a member of the South Newport Baptist Church and had been a Deacon of the Church since 1942 and was the oldest living Deacon of the Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances C. “Betty” Hope and a son Alton J. Hope and his parents, Sidney Nathaniel and Lula Mae Rowe Hope.

Survivors are his children Joyce Farr, Michael Hope, Ralph Hope, Henderson Hope (Julianne), Dedra Hope and Lynn Hope all of McIntosh County, two brothers, David Hope of Brunswick and Sidney Hope of McIntosh County and a sister, Lula Mae Wallace of Brunswick, 57 grandchildren and great grandchildren, and several nieces a nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 AM Friday 4/15/11 in the South Newport Baptist Church with Pastor Eric Grissino and Pastor Gene Hughes officiating. Interment will follow in Morgan’s Chapel Cemetery in McIntosh County.

Pallbearers will be his Grandchildren.

The family request those wishing may make contributions to the South Newport Baptist Church, Townsend, Ga., 31331. The family will receive friends in the Funeral Home from 6 to 8 PM Thursday.
