

Mr. Charles Glynn Hutchinson, 83, of Shellman Bluff passed away early Sunday morning, December 28, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held at 11Am Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at Shellman Bluff Baptist Church with Rev. Andy Hayman officiating. Interment with Masonic rites will follow in Shellman Bluff Baptist Church Cemetery with Billy Mason, Ron Rozier, Will White, Keith Pitts, Danny Smith, and Hugh Hooks serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are the deacons of Shellman Bluff Baptist Church, members of Southern Wiregrass Gospel Band, members of Shellman Bluff Fire Department, and members of Live Oak Lodge 137.
Mr. Hutchinson was retired from the University of Georgia as a mechanic. He served in the United States Navy from January 1951 to October 1954. He was a member of Shellman Bluff Baptist Church where he was a deacon for many years. He was also a member of Live Oak Lodge 137 of Darien, GA, and served as chief of Shellman Bluff Volunteer Fire Department for many years. Mr. Hutchinson was a member of several bluegrass bands as their fiddler, was an avid fisherman, and was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Mr. Hutchinson is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. L.B. Hutchinson, 2 brothers, E.J. and Hobert Hutchinson, and a sister Ada Jesweak.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Irma Jean (Pug) Hutchinson; one son, Charles Glynn (Chuck) Hutchinson Jr.; one granddaughter Tara Hutchinson Lausch (Adam); his companion of 14 years, Baxter, his Dachshund; three sisters: Mrs. Nina Smith (Phillip) of Southerland Bluff, Mrs. Minnie McDaniel (Charles) of Middleburg, FL, and Mrs. Buena Pitts of St. Simons Island; as well as a number of nieces, nephews and several great nieces and nephews.
