

Mr. Griffis was a native of Ware County and had been a resident of Brunswick since 1953. He was the owner and operator of Griffis Steel Company.
He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints and served as Bishop in Jesup, Ga. for 6 years.
Mr. Griffis was preceded in death by his parents, Claude Hulbert and Beadie Kirkland Griffis, and two sisters, Laurie Burnham and Darlene Despain.
Survivors are his wife, Kathleen Floyd Griffis of Brunswick, three sons, Claude Harry Griffis and William Brad Griffis both of Brunswick and Roger Clem Griffis of Akron, Ohio, two daughters, Gloria Sue Jacobs of Brunswick and Mary Angela Ripley of Birmingham, AL., a brother, Robert LeGrand Griffis of Dallas, TX., and two sisters, Juanita Beach of Brunswick, and Betty Jean Farnsworth of Sandy UT., 15 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be held at 11 O’Clock Monday 8/16/10 in the Church of Jesup Christ of Latter day Saints with Bishop Shaw McVeigh and Bishop James Griffin officiating. Interment will follow in Chapel Park Cemetery.
Active pallbearers will be: Joshua Jacobs, Ashton Ripley, Andrew Ripley, Harrison Griffis, Travis Griffis, Joshua Kirkland and Robert L. Griffis. Honorary pallbearers will be Eddie Faulker, Farrell Kirkland and John Beach.
The family request contributions to the Hospice of the Golden Isles, 1692 Glynco parkway, Brunswick, Ga., 31525.
The family will receive friends in the Funeral Home from 5 to 7 PM Sunday.
